Sometimes you just come across a piece of software on the web that is so simple to use and so ingenious; you think to yourself “Why didn’t I think of this first”. Taskbar shuffle is just one of those programs. Simple put; once installed; it allows you to rearrange the windows that show up on your task bar. Usually; windows appear in the way that you launched them; but this way.. you can rearrange them in any order that you wish.

Microsoft has announced today that its next version of Office, Office 2007, is complete. They will be shipping it out to business customers by late November. I haven’t really been followign the whole Vista hype. Having said that, Office 2007 is the best looking Vista application that I have seen to date. It just flat out looks great. The interface, the gui, everything looks really good. I can’t wait to install Vista on my computer and try it out.

Microsoft has activated the website for Zune, their iPod rival. You can check out the site at Zune.net. One of the coolest things available on the site is a theme for Windows XP that is supposed to resemble ZUNE.

So I am sure that most of you know by now that Google bought YouTube for $1.65Billion (thats Billion with a B) yesterday. Not bad for a company that was started in Feb 2005 by a couple of geeks. The Dot Com era is back and is better than ever! Anyways; there are reports circulating that Microsoft was in the bidding war for YouTube, along with Yahoo. They lost yet again to Google. This morning I get a little email in my inbox from Microsoft Soapbox, Microsoft’s version of YouTube. It turns out that they have sent me a beta invite to try it out. I had signed up for it a few weeks ago. So it turns out they are opening it up to beta sooner than expected? Perhaps to counter the Goo-Tube behemoth!

In the ‘left sidebar’; there should be some options that show up there. I do not know how to describe it; but if you open up a window on your computer running XP; you will most likely see it there. How do I get it back? I do not even remember how I turned it off in the 1st place.
This thing has got me totally perplexed. I might have to turn in my geek license.
Edit Do not take away my geek license just yet. I figured it out. Here is a little step by step guide
- Open a explorer window (such as My Documents)
- Go to “Tools->Folder Options”
- Under the “General” Tab; look for ‘Tasks’.
- Make sure you check ‘Show common tasks in folder’
