I have a lot of bookmarks that I used to add to my Firefox toolbar. Overtime; the toolbar ran out of room to add any more bookmarks. What I ended up doing was removing the ‘names’ of those bookmarks and having them just show up as ‘icons’. The reason this works is that now a days; most of the websites have a ‘favicon’. That is the icon that you see in the ‘address bar’ when you go to a site. For example; go to CNN.com and you will see the red ‘CNN’ logo in the address bar (at least that is how it works in Firefox). So now if you wish to add the bookmark to your toolbar; just bookmark the page but do not enter a ‘name’.

This is how my toolbar looks like (click for larger image). Do you recognize all those favicons?

How many of you guys remember this game from your childhood? I remember playing this game for hours as a kid in India. I had a NES back in the 80’s. Anyways; I found the video of the new Super Mario bros for Nintendo DS online. Sure takes me back a while; and frankly makes me want to go out and buy one and rekindle the memories

There has not been any big innovations in terms of a computer ‘Desktop’. I mean if you look at Windows 95 to Vista; the Desktop looks the same. XP started off by trying to make the desktop clean; but over time it still ends up with a whole bunch of icons and such. That led a couple of guys in toronto to think: Why can’t my computer desktop look more like my office desk. Words are not going to do any justice to this amazing protype. It is about 6 minutes; but worth watching. It remains to be seen how many of these innovations will make it into the next generation operating systems. Apple, are you listening?

Ever since I was a kid, I have been a big fan of everything radio controlled. I remember that growing up in India, one of my favorite toys was a red radio controlled corvette. It was a simple electric model that worked with a wireless remote. The remove actually had a ’steering wheel’ on it so you could use it to drive the car. OK enough reminiscing. Anyways; when I came to the US; I was so excited to see so many different types of radio control options. There were radio controlled trucks, cars, buggies, airplanes, tanks, helicopters and so on. Plus there were both electric and gas models.
One of the coolest radio controlled things had to be an helicopter. Call it man’s obsession with flight if you will. Whats cooler than a radio controlled helicopter; well an indoor radio controlled helicopter that you can fly around your house. Check out this sweet video for preciously that!

UMPC, which stands for an Ultra Mobile PC, is a new initiative in the world of computers. It is somewhat of a cross between a pda and a tablet pc. I wrote about one earlier here. Here is a good video that showcases some of the features of the Samsung Q1, one of the more popular UMPCs out there currently.
