When I was younger I lived in Korea. No hot water or central heat. My wife and I would wake up in the morning to ice on the windows and fight to see who would get out of bed and turn on the space heater. I usually lost. I thought of it as an adventure. Now I’m not as adventurous. I like my comforts. Back then I might have agreed with you. I wouldn’t have minded having less functionality, poorer performance and a terrible interface. Now that I can afford something that works well and makes my life easier and more enjoyable I don’t mind paying for it.

I guess I don't understand why someone would pay $800 for a Tivo when I get my DVR from Comcast for $5/month.
