SEO - search engine optimizing your site

I am constantly amazed to see how people find this site. Most of the traffic comes from google; and thats no surprise considering what a big fan of google I am. I think the term that my friends use is ‘Google Fanboy’; or maybe there is another term that is not appropriate for this site. Anyways; Here are a few things I learned during the couple of months that I have this site to acheive good google ranking.

• Sitemap - You must have a sitemap for your site and submit that to Google
• URL - The url of the page has a great impact on your search engine rankings.
• Content - The content in the H1,H2,H3 tags means a lot in terms of search rankings

Here is an example of how this is affecting my site. Go to google and type in ‘Napoleon childhood picture‘. Now look at the first result that shows up. Pretty cool huh? I believe in this case the key is the URL contains what the user is searching for.
