Colibri - A must have download

I try to avoid the mouse as much as possible. If there is a keyboard shortcut available; I am much more likely to use that rather than the mouse. In fact, one of my pet peeves is to watch people use the mouse more than it is necessary. I have seen people go to the Edit menu to ‘copy’ rather than hit ‘Ctrl-C’. That just drives me nuts! Anyways; I am just ranting now.

The purpose of this post is to let you guys know of a cool new piece of software that I am using on my computer here. The name of this software is Colibri.

Colibri is a little utility that allows you to type a few letters in the name of the program and then launch it without ever having to use the mouse. That may not sound like much; but trust me; once you learn to use it.. you will be using it all the time. So how does it work?
After installing Colibri; it scans your list of programs (very quick scan) and builds up an searchable index of all the programs. You type a hot-key, (I am using Ctrl-Space) and it brings up a little window in the middle of your desktop. Then you just start typing; and it will show you all matching programs. Check out the screenshots below of me trying to find iTunes and Google Talk. (A picture is worth a 1000 words sometimes).
