Top 5 Firefox extensions

I am a pretty avid Firefox user. I can’t remember the last time I used Microsoft Internet Explorer by choice. The only time I use it if I have to visit some work intranet sites. Firefox by itself is pretty nice, but with the right extensions; you can make it pretty much the best web browser there is. That being said; here are the top 5 that I use.

  1. Colorful tabs - This one goes to show that something doesn’t have to be complicated for it to be great. This extension simply gives each tab a different color. Looks pretty and allows you to easily tell apart the tabs. Screenshot.
  2. Reveal - This one is sorta like the Expose feature found in Mac OSX. This allows you to quickly see the content of each tab. Screenshot
  3. YMailNotifier - If you use Yahoo mail; then this extension is a must have for you. It polls your mail account and will show a little popup if there is any new email.
  4. All-in-One Gestures - This extension offers customize mouse gestures. Think of it as using customized mouse motions to tell Firefox to do stuff. For example; you can go back/forward by just moving your mouse left/right. Pretty powerful stuff.
  5. Customize Google - This is a very very powerful extension. Anything I write here will not do it justice. Check out its homepage for all that it offers. I’m mainly using it to surf google without the annoying text ads. (works on gmail also).

What are some of your favorite Firefox extensions?

I can’t live without AdBlock, Web Developer, and Tab Mix Plus.

I tried using ‘AdBlock’; but frankly I just dont have too much problem with Ads as it is now. I guess I only visit ad-free sites :).

This Web Developer one sounds interesting; i’ll have to check it out.
