Installed Google Desktop
I tried out Google Desktop when it first came out last year (or longer); but I removed it because it was slowing down the computer due to its indexing. This weekend, I decided to give it another chance. One of the main features that caught my attention was the ’sidebar’ that it came with. The next windows version, vista, is also going to have this sidebar concept to hold widgets. Who knows when I will get Vista; so I decided to try out Google Desktop with the sidebar and see how it looks.
Keep in mind that the sidebar does take considerable amount of screen real estate; so I wont recommend trying it out on anything smaller than a 17inch monitor. I have a NEC 19inch CRT monitor (need to get a LCD monitor soon!). After installing it; I let it do the indexing all at once. This gave me some time to catch up on NCAA. Go DUKE!!. Anyways; it took me some time but I finally got the sidebar set up with the plugins that I wanted. Check out the screenshot and let me know what you think of it.
